⟪Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds⟫

Authors

This is a great book for those who struggles to being the person you want to become but in vein all the time. David Goggins was one of us. Nonetheless, he decided that he should change his life and join the Navy SEALS. At his journey of becoming the uncommon among the uncommon, he had figured out so much about mental power that even a bit of goggins can change one man’s life, just as he had changed me a couple of weeks before. All the stories of his are inspiring because they are stories of how a man struggles, endures all the pain, and strives though suffering. There are really too much to say about the man and the book, so I’ll have to say only a few points that touched my heart.

About accountability mirror

You have to hold accountable to yourself. The only way for a person to grow is to look at your weaknesses and say, you have to change. The more steps you take, the more self respect it gives you, which always light a way forward.

About callousing one’s mind and staying hard

Everything in life is a mind game. To win the game, you have to learn to callous your mind. Stay hard every day. Step outside the comfort zone on a regular basis. Dig out your journal again and write down all the things you don’t like to do or that make you uncomfortable. Especially the things you know are good for you. This is a process toward calloused mind. Once you’d got a calloused mind, you can take on harder task and eventually, live full potential of your own life. Stay hard!

About taking souls

Once you have a calloused mind, you can start to taking people’s souls. Doing things most people won’t do and keep on doing so will separate you from others. You win the mind game when you win over their mind.

About Limitation

The fact that David Goggins, who did not prepare for anything before running 100 miles and kept on going, enduring illusion, bone fractures, blood piss, diarrhea, and negative thoughts, said that if you refuse to quit, you can go beyond your limits, way beyond. This is something I now remember everytime I feel like quitting, or when I feel pain and exhaustion. If you refuse to quit, you can do anything.

Quotes

There are two powerful sentences David Goggins would scream out when he suffers:

They don’t know me, son! Who’s gonna carry the boat and the logs!

Ending

For those who crave to be strong, you can start from watching youtube videos where Goggins got on podcasts and answers many question of his life. Those videos are great. After that, you can decide whether you should buy the book. Wish you all stay hard!
